List Types: Todo vs Collection
Last Updated:
Sofa offers two types of lists to match how you naturally think about your media. When creating or editing a list, you can choose between Todo and Collection mode.
Todo Lists
Todo lists work like a backlog or queue. When you mark an item as complete, it moves out of the main view into a “Completed Items” section at the bottom. This keeps your list focused on what’s left to do.
Best for: “Movies to Watch,” “Books to Read,” “Games to Play” — lists where the goal is to work through items.
Collection Lists
Collection lists keep everything visible, whether completed or not. Nothing disappears when you mark something as done. These are permanent reference lists.
Best for: “Favorite Movies,” “Scary Movies for Halloween,” “Best Podcasts” — curated lists you revisit.
Switching Between Types
You can change a list’s type at any time:
- Open a list
- Tap ••• in the top right
- Tap “Edit List Details”
- Change the list type
Your items won’t be affected — they’ll just be displayed according to the new mode.
Completed Items in Todo Lists
In a Todo list, completed items aren’t gone — they’re tucked away. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap “Show Completed” to see everything you’ve finished. This is great for looking back at how much progress you’ve made.
