Version 5.4.1

Released

What’s New

  • Search within lists, Logbook, Planner, Player, or Enjoying, or tap “Search everywhere” to search all of Sofa.
  • Start tracking movies, shows, books, and games directly from Search, without adding them to a list first.
  • Items you stop tracking or finish without logging move to the new “No Longer Tracking” section in Enjoying.

Changes & Improvements

Podcasts

  • Mark episodes as Played or Unplayed directly from the episode list, without opening the player.
  • Select multiple episodes to mark as Played or Unplayed, add to Up Next, or Play Next.

Logbook

  • Top Categories now includes every category and counts only finished items.
  • The “Checkpoints” filter is now called “Sessions.”
  • Top lists now account for Sessions, finishes, and replays, with ties sorted by most recently finished.
  • Sort Top lists by ratings or custom Ingredients, with preferences synced across devices.
  • Items logged multiple times now appear as a single entry, and custom covers appear in all Top lists.
  • Stats Recap now includes time spent in Sessions, even when you haven’t finished anything.

Enjoying

  • Log past sessions for finished Quick Log, Journal, and Counter items without changing their finished status.
  • Finished items now show a checkmark in the progress ring, even if you didn’t reach your target.

Shortcuts

  • Session actions have updated names for consistency, without breaking existing Shortcuts.
  • Find Logbook Item now returns every logged entry, including dates and notes.
  • Get Sessions now supports journal descriptions, photos, photo counts, Simple Counter items, and session time and progress.
  • Create Session and Update Session let you set or edit titles, descriptions, and notes.
  • Add Journal Entry now supports descriptions and photos.
  • New Get Session Photos action collects photos from multiple sessions in chronological order.
  • List items and TV shows now include Source and Source ID properties.
  • Session deeplinks now open the item’s journal, and the Get Sessions picker only shows supported items.

Performance

  • Faster ingredient editing in big lists. Changing ingredients on an item no longer makes the list behind it refresh after every change. It refreshes once when you head back, so editing a big library goes much more smoothly.
  • Top charts in your country. Top Books, Podcasts, Apps and Music on the search screen now follow your region, as long as “use local country” is on for that type. (Movies and TV already did.)
  • More reliable Smart List filters. New filters are saved more carefully, so they’re less likely to go missing after syncing.

Bug Fixes

  • If you finished something tracked with Simple Counter and had only one session that month, the Logbook showed it twice: once for the session and once for the finish. Those now combine into a single row marked Completed, the same way items with multiple sessions already did.
  • Crash on launch for some people with pinned items.
  • Lots of fixes for Larger Text: headers, buttons, Stats, item details and the podcast player no longer clip or overlap at bigger sizes.
  • Item details sometimes showing a list the item isn’t in.
  • Finished podcasts no longer stick around in the “Listen as a Series” section of Podcast Player settings.
  • Issue where deleting a cover image you’d added from Photos didn’t remove it. This applies to both lists and custom items.
  • Imported podcasts now correctly show as “Following.”
  • Shortcuts bug where Get Ingredient Value turned into the Ingredient’s name instead of its value when used as text.
  • Podcast stats follow your Logbook. Episodes you remove from the Logbook, or never log, no longer show up in Stats or your Recap. If your podcast numbers went down, that’s expected: episodes finished before podcast logging existed were never in your Logbook, so they no longer count in Stats.
  • Removing a podcast you follow from the Logbook no longer sends the podcast to the Trash.
  • Items that were tracked but never in a list now show up in library search, Spotlight, and Shortcuts.
  • Adding an item you’re already tracking to a list now moves it there instead of making a second copy, so your progress stays put.
  • Crash in the Open Item from List shortcut for items that aren’t in a list.
  • Issue where marking an episode as played on a podcast you don’t follow showed “Added to Logbook” but didn’t add it to your Logbook.
  • Start Session now shows up when you open a tracked item from the Logbook.”
  • Get Checkpoints’ Deeplink now opens the item’s journal instead of just opening Sofa.
  • Finished trackers now keep their progress and total time in the header.
  • The “Get Enjoying Items” shortcut now works when you pick a built-in category like TV Show, Movie or Book.
  • “Open in New Window” now works for items in Logbook, The Shelf, your lists and Up Next on Mac and iPad.
  • Mark as Incomplete on a finished item now puts it back in Enjoying with your sessions intact, so you can log what you missed.
  • On Mac, you can now type minutes when editing a session’s time.
  • Fixed Settings (Sofa → Settings… or ⌘,) not opening unless the Lists tab was selected.
  • Episodes started from a playlist now continue through that playlist instead of the main Up Next.
  • Fixed episodes marked as played from the player sometimes staying in Up Next.
  • Issue where Search for Podcasts in the Player returned no results if Podcasts was turned off in Settings → Categories.
  • Audiobooks now get their own card in Stats, with their own detail screen covering listens, relistens, top audiobooks, and favorite authors. They used to be lumped in with Books, so the Books card didn’t match Top Categories or the Books screen it opened.
  • The Stats Recap now names finished audiobooks and gives them their own count. Before, an audiobook could show up in the recap’s artwork without being mentioned anywhere else on the card.
  • Fixed “Unknown Artist” showing for some albums in Music Stats.
  • Fixed a crash when running the “Find Logbook Item” shortcut.
  • Fixed a similar crash that could happen when running “Find List” shortcuts.
  • “Find Logbook Item” is faster with big Logbooks and no longer slows Sofa down if it’s open while the shortcut runs.
  • Fixed a crash when opening a podcast episode from search with the Player tab hidden.
