What problem are you trying to solve?
As the end of the year comes closer I notice the various “Your Year in Review” formats from lots of different companies. I love scrolling down my activity feed to review what things I have read, watched, or listened to and especially see the dates when I did. However, currently in the activity feed every type of media is simply mixed together ex) an album then a book. I want to be able to see a summary of just the albums I’ve listened to in one place, just the books I’ve read in one place, or just the movies I’ve watched the previous year in one place.
Explain your ideal solution
I propose a “Sofa Summary” feature that displays your consumption of various media throughout the year in their respective categories. Not unlike “Spotify Wrapped”. A page that says here is a list of the books you read this year… followed by the book covers or book titles. This could just show up at the end of the year or be its own page of sorts. Alternatively, if this would be too difficult to implement you could simply add a feature to the search bar of activity. For example, you could type “books in 2021” and if would only show you the books you read in 2021, “movies in 2020” for movies in that year and so on.
How are you currently solving this problem today?
Currently I just scroll through the activity feed and peek at the category under each title that indicates if it’s a book or music album or something else. Mostly I do this in order to count up the number of books that I’ve read to have a good idea. I’m sure others would like to have a specific number to see the exact number of books, movies, and so on that they’ve finished throughout the year. Later, I’m sure if this feature was adopted you could see trends to notice if you’ve consumed more, less, or the same number of some category each year, but maybe I’m just getting ahead of myself.

@pcraftery thanks for the great suggestion. I agree, this would be an awesome feature. I have a lot planned for 2022, so I’ll have to see how something like this fits in.
